Make-a-wish
Nationally, Chi Omega supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation, whose mission is to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Make-A-Wish seeks to inspire hope in the lives of these children and their loved ones as they battle illness together. This cause is near to the heart of our chapter because we believe that every child, no matter the circumstance, deserves a childhood defined by joy, confidence, and happy memories.
We are fortunate to sponsor these experiences through our annual fundraising event Limelight. The entire event is a celebration that revolves around the guest of honor, our Wish Kid. All proceeds benefit the foundation’s ability to grant his or her wish. Limelight is always a highlight of the fall semester, and it would not be possible without the support of the Mississippi State and Starkville communities.
Brickfire project
Locally, Chi Omega Phi Delta serves alongside the Brickfire Project, which exists to provide daycare and after-school care to underserved children in the Starkville area. The program facilitates mentorship between children and college students. Each week, every child in the program gets to spend time with their mentor, who assists greatly in their intellectual and social development. We are very thankful to support a program that endeavors to help each child reach their fullest potential.
Coke Floats with Chi Omega is our annual event that benefits the Brickfire Project. This is a lively night featuring delicious Coke floats, joyous music, and inspiring conversation about Brickfire’s mission. The event’s earnings are put toward the purchase of new learning materials, recreational games, and other supplies necessary to facilitate meaningful experiences and impactful relationships.
Phi Delta Philanthropy
As a chapter, we have the opportunity to support Make-A-Wish Mississippi and The Brickfire Project through fundraisers and campus events. I cannot wait to serve these two organizations because they bring us so much joy as we partner to help make a difference in the lives of children around the state of Mississippi!
